Greetings, all! Okay, I've got some heavy announcements for this group and this message board. Short-term, I find that I can't open up my schedule to this monthly dinner this month. I've got a wedding to go to, as well as a number of other personal events that I have to take care of right around the usual time for the monthly dinner. I'm putting a call out for anyone else in the group who wants to organize a dinner for the group to meet and socialize at. It's really just a matter of picking a restaurant and deciding whether or not reservations are needed. I usually do reservations.

Related but more long-term: I've become too busy to keep this group active with events. I'm calling out to anyone in the group, or maybe even a number of people to take the lead in leading the Boston No Kidding group. I don't mind helping out, such as updating the website, etc., but I need someone else to take the responsibility of organizing the group. NO KIDDING! is an all-volunteer, non-profit social club for adult couples and singles who, for whatever reason, have never had children. It is not a business or a dating service. We rely on all of our members to volunteer some of their time to organize our activities. NO KIDDING! is not allied with any sect, denomination, political entity, business, organization or institution, does not engage in any controversy, and neither endorses nor opposes any cause. We are a social club -- nothing more, nothing less. You can read more about the international group which we are a part of by going to http://nokidding.net/.

Please respond at our message board if you're interested, or message me privately. Anyone who is interested in event planning should consider this task. It certainly can be lots of fun, and you can make a lot of contacts from all over the globe, as you correspond with the other chapters of the group. Contact me with any questions, comments, jokes, riddles. I'd hate to see this group disappear because no one wants to take the time to organize a few events. This could be done by more than one person, so please don't be shy to step up to the plate.

      Hi Mike,
I may be able to arrange some events, but I need to know what is envolved in doing so. I've never really planned a group event before, so I'll need some guidance. I'm looking forward to seeing you and Christine and Mike in New Orleans!
      Ciao for now,

        Hi, Lisa:

Well, it's really just picking the time/place for the events, checking out the logistics (MBTA-friendly, etc.), and posting the events. I can up date them on the website. Just post here about the date/time/place, and whether or not there should be a common meeting place for participants, etc.

If it looks like there will be participants, or if you really feel strongly about the event, you can post it as an event at Hey Let's Go, which allows you to download a list of participants, etc. I could help you with that, if/when the time comes. The important part is to make a definite decision about the event first.

That sounds like a good place for the dinner, but I can't make it to the dinner. If you would like to arrange the dinner for this month, please feel free. Post it here, and if you do want to go forward with it, let me know and I'll update the website. The dinner really should be next week or the week after, and I just don't have the time to plan it nor attend it.

Saturday, March 3rd: Check out the best BBQ and Trick Bag, New England's best New Orleans-style funk! Jake's Dixie Roadhouse is a very cool place to hang, has great beer, cheap cover, great music, and the best BBQ in the Northeast. This is the first time Trick Bag has played here, so we could certainly use a good crowd, to ensure that we play there in the future.

Come hang with the band! Have a few beers and eat great food!

For those of you who haven't known me long enough, this is the beginning of the season to start planning the annual New Orleans pilgrimage, to reach the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival! This will be the 6th year in a row for me. One year, we had 4 of us down there together, and a blast was had by all. I'd like nothing better than to get a good sized group of friends to assemble this year.

The Fest is from April 27 through May 6. I go for the 2nd weekend, usually. Past performers have been the Neville Bros., Dr. John, Marcia Ball, Irma Thomas, The Dirty Dozen, Rebirth Brass Band, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, The Radiators, Buckwheat Zydeco, Tab Benoit, Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Allman Brothers Band, Sting, Blues Traveller, Lyle Lovett, Jimmy Buffett, Diana Krall, Lenny Kravitz, Santana, Paul Simon, Fats Domino, and Dave Matthews. I've absolutely had the best times of my life there.

Let's chat this up and start planning!

Well, I go down on Wednesday after the first weekend(May 2nd this year) and come home the next Tuesday(May 8th this year). Anyone who wants to join us is welcome to come and go as they please, of course. The reason that I post this months in advance is because this is on of the busiest times of the year for New Orleans, and it behooves people to plan way ahead in order to get good lodging at a fair price. We use Hotwire and Priceline a lot. It would be better to figure out who is playing before making plans to go, but that's really not a great option for me, as the prices for everything go up once the performance schedule comes out, as everyone tries to book at the same time.

Many of the bigger name national acts play during the first weekend, but there are still great national acts during second weekend, and I'm most concerned with catching the New Orleans acts, anyway. Second weekend works for me, but I like to be there for part of the week in order to get to many of the nightclub shows.

This was a great movie that everyone should see. It starts out as a documentary about our vanishing wetlands and the effect that this has on all of us, which is pretty interesting as it is. Then the film was apparently interrupted by Hurricane Katrina, so there is a whole segment about the disaster and how it could have been diluted by the missing wetlands.

A few of us went on Sunday and it was well worth going. Please see it if you have the chance: http://boston.heyletsgo.com/event-107...
