Noam Chomsky to Keynote No More Victims Event at MIT

May 23, 2008
3:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Boston, MA - Legendary author, thinker and activist Noam Chomsky will be the keynote speaker at an event to support the work of No More Victims, a non-profit organization working to restore health and well-being to child victims of war. The event will be held at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Friday May 23 in Room 26-100 (Lecture Hall) from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. Cole Miller, founder of No More Victims, will make a brief presentation about the work of the organization and debut a short film about Omar, a boy who was severely burned when US forces opened fire on a passenger vehicle near Samara, Iraq. Dr. Robert Morris, project leader in Boston, will speak briefly about the work from a local perspective.

No More Victims, founded by Cole Miller in anticipation of the US invasion of Iraq, works to obtain medical sponsorships for war-injured Iraqi children and to forge ties between the children, their families and communities in the United States. The organization is comprised of over 40 communities in cities across America that, under the banner of No More Victims, provide direct relief to civilians injured by US military operations in Iraq. These collective efforts are part of a larger, emerging story: a growing civil movement of Americans from all walks of life uniting to redress the civilian consequences of the war in Iraq.

The 5/20 changes introduced a "bug". It is no longer possible to see the two groups associated with an event. I've been told that will be fixed in the next build.

Nevertheless, anyone interested in this event should be aware of the social activism umbrella group "What's so funny about peace, love and understanding?"

Is "MIT Room 26-100 60 Vassar St. 26-100, Cambridge, MA" in the heading the same as "MIT 7 Massachusetts Avenue Cambridge, MA 02139 Room 26-100 (Lecture Hall)" in the body?

Not sure if I can make it, but I already forwarded the event to a friend of mine who is a big Noam Chomsky fan. Thanks for the heads up!
