Paul's Story:

Two years ago, Paul Giunta sustained life threatening injuries in a car accident on the way home from the birth of his third child. After surviving against all odds, he had to relearn how to walk, talk, eat – everything we take for granted as human beings. Through dogged determination and his tenacious nature, he has made a miraculous recovery. But he could not have achieved the tremendous advancements he has made without the support of his family, his friends and the community.

The Giunta family was recently featured on the popular TV show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition". Their home was completely rebuilt so that Paul, who hadn't slept in his house since the accident, could return home once again. A rehabilitation room was added and decorated with a map of the Boston Marathon, a race Paul had completed several times prior to the accident. With this newly configured home, his determined spirit, and the support of his family and friends there is no doubt Paul will one day race again.

Fittingly, Paul is determined to use his experiences to improve the lives of others and has gone back to school to learn physical therapy to help those who have been the victims of crippling head trauma. This may surprise some but not his friends. It is typical Paulie Giunta behavior. As a teammate, Paul was the toughest guy on the rugby pitch. As a friend, you will not find anyone who is more loyal. As a husband and father, you will not find anyone who is more loving. And all who know Paul understand that if any of us were in his position, he would be the first one to step up and help. Now it is our time to help.

We are holding PauliePalooza 2008
http://www.pauliepalooza.com/  to raise funds to help defray rehabilitation costs and also to underwrite Paul’s tuition so he can go back to school. Please join us for an evening of cocktails, camaraderie, and live music from two of Boston’s favorite bands. See you there!
