- When:Sat 5/6/06 (2PM)
- Where: Boston Gun Range
- Address: 317 Southwest Cutoff Worcester, MA Map
Editors' Take
Have you ever been curious about learning how to shoot? Gene who used to teach Boston Police how to shoot will be leading a shooting lesson at the Boston Gun Range.
If you are interested in attending. The event starts at 2 pm. Have
you ever thought "NOW is the time to try something I've never done
before? Learn how to shoot at Boston Gun Range in a safe controlled
environment under the supervision of an experienced pistol
instructor - ME! All you need is a valid id, a good attitude and
some cash of course. It's not like the movies, learning the proper
handling and techniques for shooting takes precision and
concentration. For those of you looking to be the next Arnold or
Clint Eastwood, you'll probably be sorely disappointed once you
pull back your target. But if you pay close attention to the basic
principles of proper shooting, you find a very enjoyable
experience, and maybe a nice hole in the bulls eye. Target shooting
is a precision sport that can be enjoyed by both women and men.
Cost: $70 Includes: - 30 minute class on what you will need to
know. - 1 handgun rental - 1 box of ammunition - 2 targets - rental
of eye and ear protection - 1 hr of range time (under my
supervision as well as qualified range officers) If you are
interested, please message me. Attendance maybe limited, so we can
make sure every gets the attention they need. Visit
http://www.bostongunrange.com for more information about the range. Note: Most places like Yahoo
still also list the range at the old address on Grafton Street. The
correct address is 317 Southwest Cutoff on RT 20 (hard to find on
Mapquest), but it's real easy to get to from the Mass Pike. It is
about 30-45 minutes from the Boston. Directions to Boston Gun
Range: * Mass Pike West * Take exit 11 Worcester (exit after 495) *
After toll, at bottom of ramp take a left towards Worcester (rt
122) and follow signs for Route 20 West. * Take Route 20 West on
your left. But the sure landmark is the gas station on your left by
the entrance to Route 20. It is a sharp left, so keep an eye out
for it. It is only about a minute after you get off the Pike. *
Boston Gun Range will be located on the left side on Route 20 just
about 5 minutes off the Pike. Link:

You can fire a few rounds for me!! I'd so love to go to this but discovered the event too late - I have to get the oil changed in the car tomorrow - soooo long overdue and if the journey to Worcester is 45mins then I need 2hrs and 45mins to get lost, find my way...and get lost again!
Have a great day - and keep safe!

I can be as long (or short) as you want to stay. But I think it will be around 1 1/2 to 2 hrs.
But you are welcome to shoot for as long as you want.
Look forward to seeing you down at the range.
Cheers,
Gene

Follow up - for learning to shoot at Boston Gun Range
Thanks for showing interest. It will be a fun time. I posted directions on how to get to the range. It is about 30-45 minutes outside Boston, but most of it is on the Mass Pike.
What to wear: Anything comfortable, but I don't recommend V-neck tops.
What to do before: You should eat lunch before you come over to the range. Best to shoot with something in your stomach. Some people initially get nervous, and that is not good on an empty stomach.
What to do while you are there: HAVE FUN! but as always - safety (you and everyone else) is paramont.
If you have any questions, feel free to drop me a line.
Cheers,
Gene
