It's not often that comedians cause drama, but sometimes they make
an exception. On October 24th,
Comedy, For Serious.
will showcase Boston's best local comedians and improvisers in a
night of stand-up and improv comedy. These talented folks
will lend their funny bones in support of the Independent Drama
Society, a theatre company fresh to the Boston arts scene and in
financial need. The Burren, one of Boston's favorite spots for live
entertainment and a pint of Guinness, has graciously donated their
Back Room to the fundraiser.
Founded in 2007, the Independent Drama Society (IDS) is a company
of students and young professionals with a passion for
theatre. With productions like Jean-Paul Sartre's
No Exit
, Donald Margulies'
Dinner with Friends
, and Agatha Christie's
And Then There Were None
under their belt, IDS seeks to challenge the definition of drama by
producing theatrical works that examine intensely conflicting
forces, and overall strives to create an open, collaborative
theatre community in the Boston Metro Area.
Hilarity ensues October 24th, 8:00pm at The Burren, located at
247 Elm Street in Davis Square, Somerville. For the price of
$5, you'll get amusing antics, hysterical stories, and
side-splitting laughter--all for the sake of drama.
