'Art Show Down': The Game Show (Event Over)

2pm & 6pm "Art Show Down": The Game Show at Art Interactive, 130 Bishop Allen Dr, Cambridge (Central Sq) FREE Note: Tapings are every other Saturday. 'Art Show Down' is both an exhibit that examines the TV game show and a game show about art. Starting on 9/16, you can be part of the game show studio audience as they will tape episodes every other Saturday (at 2pm & 6pm) at Art Interactive, which will (eventually?) be shown on Cambridge Community Television. On each show, 2 artists will compete in a variety of games such as ‘The Auction Price is Right’, ‘Schmooze and Booze’, ‘Art or Bull’, ‘Action Art Shooting Gallery’, ‘A Brush with Danger’ and more. I like the idea of being creative while running through an obstacle course etc. This sounds somewhat like a mission statement: “Art Show Down aims to critique and exploit the game show genre by exploring the nature of televised competition and how it interfaces with commercial interests, culture, and the production of contemporary art.” The gallery exhibition will be open and free on Saturdays and Sundays (Noon to 6pm) until 11/5. The art that’s created during the show tapings, the set, props, costumes, and taped episodes will be on view.
