The hat is passed for each featured performer for an optional donation. The Burren Sunday Night Songwriter Series hosted by Danielle Miraglia and Tom Bianchi is a great event for seeing live performances from local and touring artists in a fun and relaxing scene. Each week there are two featured performers at 8 & 9 with special guests after 10pm. You never know who will pop by late night. HOW Magazine Hosts 18th Annual Design Conference in Boston CINCINNATI – April 25 – The 2008 HOW Design Conference is coming to Boston’s Hynes Convention Center May 18-21. The annual creativity, business and technology conference for graphic designers, the HOW Conference will feature 59 speakers, 60+ sessions and 10 three-hour workshops. According to HOW magazine editor Bryn Mooth, “the HOW Conference is a wonderful opportunity for designers to develop their design careers, hone their business skills, get their creative juices flowing and network with thousands of fellow designers. And for Boston-area designers, it’s especially fortunate: they’ll get to spend four days immersed in graphic design, without even leaving town!”Many industry experts and well-known designers will present at this year’s Conference, including Allan Haley of Monotype Imaging, design entrepreneur Charles S. Anderson, Adobe’s Russell Brown and Julieanne Kost, plus Robynne Raye and Michael Strassburger of Modern Dog Design Co. Many speakers plan to use Boston as inspiration for their presentations, notably House Industries’ Ken Barber who will use Boston’s rich typographic history as the backdrop for his workshop on creating type.Attendees can choose from sessions in seven tracks: Creativity & Inspiration, Design Disciplines, Business & Management, Career Development, In-House Issues, Technology & Production and HOW Learning Center. The Conference will also feature Boston Design Studio Tours, which allow attendees to tour these six local studios: Arnold Worldwide, Catapult Thinking, Sametz Blackstone Associates, Seltzer, Silverscape and Visual Dialogue.The HOW Conference is expected to attract more than 3,000 graphic designers, art directors, creative directors, illustrators and other design professionals from the Boston area and around the world.
