Hey Neighbor! Welcome to Neighbors for Neighbors on
http://Going.com! Neighbors for Neighbors brings neighbors together in person to
satisfy the human need to connect and care for one another. We do
this so neighbors may discover common interests and passions and
organize around them, transforming their great ideas into actions
that contribute to our community. We socialize. We organize. We
make a difference. We envision communities where all neighbors know
each other by name, say hello on the street, feel safe, and
contribute to each other's quality of life. Neighbors for Neighbors
is: Community-driven, Inclusive, Collaborative, Fun, and
Innovative. We socialize: NFN hosts Neighborhood Socials where
neighbors connect. We organize: NFN hosts Community Organizing
Expos where neighbors create social groups and community projects
with others who share similar interests and passions; engage with
local non-profits; and collaborate online at
www.neighborsforneighbors.org. All serve as mechanisms that keep neighbors together. We make a
difference: Thousands of people connect at events; over 70 Social
Clubs, Community Projects, and Partner Projects engage local,
national, and international neighbors together. We’ve
generated over 5000 hours of engagement, and brought countless
volunteers to local organizations and events. Contact: Joseph

RYSE UP: Art and Music for a Cause + -
RYSE UP is an unlikely exhibition of paintings in which our questions, fears, and misconceptions about life on the streets are confronted in the expressions of lives yet unfulfilled. Between 8-26 individuals worked together on each painting. Through their collective paintings the artists, Boston’s street youth, speak to the pains and joys of a life not respected. “RYSE art grew out of an exercise in self-expression; duct-taping blank canvases onto the city’s sidewalks and encouraging youth to vent with brushes and paint. Over time it developed into a series of powerful artwork contrasting the troubles of the streets with the strength of the individuals and community,” notes Alice Rouse, RYSE Outreach Coordinator. “This work exhibits the longing of these overlooked individuals to express and define their role in our community.”

Bi-monthly meeting for mothers of preschoolers + -
If you are home during the week, during the day and would like to come to a supportive environment and spend time with other mothers who have young children, have we got a program for you!
What: Boston Area MOPS (Mothers of Pre-schoolers)
When: The first and third Thursday of each month
Where: River of Life Church
440 Centre Street, JP
Time: 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM
Cost: $10
This group is geared towards mothers who have children between the ages of birth to five, for the purposes of education and support, networking, making new friends and getting out of the house! While your children are being cared for by MOPPETTS” workers, you get time with other mothers who are raising young children, just like you. We address a different topic each time and have various speakers with expertise in that area come share their knowledge, insights and experiences with us. We have refreshments and do fun things on the off weeks (like going to the Children’s Museum, The New England Aquarium and each other’s houses for play dates).
Topics we have covered this past year include:
- pampering yourself
- nutrition and exercise for mothers with little kids
- low cost fun and recreation
- establishing holiday traditions
- schooling options (public, private and home schooling)
- stress management for mothers with young children
- babysitting
- FlyLady “The Danger of Too Much Stuff”!
- team building for families
- encouraging your kids to be more cooperative through creative play
Boston Area MOPS is under the umbrella of MOPS International: WWW. MOPS.org

Second, this group is for the organization, Neighbors for Neighbors. There is also a location-based group for Jamaica Plain that I started before this one existed, and I've decided to keep it. I hope you'll join that, too.
