I'm in need of a local vet for my doggie. My experiences in the Boston area haven't been so good, but I think it's time to try again. I live in Brighton, so something close (Brighton/Allston/Brookline/Newton) would be preferable, but for a great vet, I'd go further.

Thanks for any help you can give me!

      Hi Rachel -

If you can manage an 8 or 9 mile trip north, Malden Animal Hospital is FANTASTIC! I used Brookline and Boston vets for years and the prices were so incredibly high (partly to pay for the real estate, I would assume). All the vets and assistants at MAH are very caring and provide top notch care for half the price of other vets I've seen. 231 Salem Street, Malden (781) 322-8795. Good luck!

  3. PETA protest at Niketown in Boston MONDAY 12p-1pm + -

**COme protest Niketown with PETA! Monday at Exeter and Newbury Streets. 12pm to 1pm.**

NFL quarterback Michael Vick of the Atlanta Falcons was recently indicted on charges of sponsoring a large dogfighting operation. The indictment alleges that dogs were housed, trained, and fought at a property owned by Vick and that dogs who did not perform well were executed by hanging, drowning, and, in at least one case, slamming their bodies to the ground. PETA will be at Niketown in Boston on Monday, July 30, to demand that the company immediately break all ties with Michael Vick.

Please join PETA for a demonstration outside Niketown in Boston. All materials will be provided, and we need activists to hold posters. Please contact Kate at KateW@peta.org if you can help or if you have any questions.

What: "Nike: Sack Vick" dogfighting protest
When: Monday, July 30, 12:00 noon to 1:00pm
Where: Niketown, at the corner of Newbury St. and Exeter St. in Boston.

The professional sports world is plagued with players who have been accused, charged, or convicted of cruelty to animals, abusing pit bulls, and dogfighting. We need to send a clear message to players and Nike that being a celebrity is not a sufficient excuse for breaking the law and that animal abuse should never be tolerated under any circumstances. Please forward this e-mail to everyone you know!

Be sure to tell people to visit PETA.org to learn more about the cruelty of dogfighting and to tell Nike to drop Vick now!

Thank you for everything you do for animals!

    Sincerely,

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals

I think that is common in Labs. I had a yellow lab and as she got older she had more gas. I would take your dog to the vet if he is showing other changes like drinking more water than usual or drooling too much. He could just have an upset stomach or a little ulcer the worst case! I always went with my feelings and ususally would bring my dog to the Vet!!

Sorry, I'm just now reading your post. NEXT TIME you need to board your dog, look at Pooch Palace in Watertown www.thepoochpalace.com if you don't like the idea of kennels. It's not cheap, but it's a great concept where your dog gets to run around a big house and have a good time while you are gone. Plan ahead, though. You must "interview" and even do a trial over night stay to show that your dog gets along with the others. After that, though, you just call up and book when you want.

We usually take him out atleast 3-4 times a day so your dog will definitely get some good exercise! :) I in Newton which is close to Boston, Cambridge.
