Anyone know of any beer tastings? It would be great to know of a
place that does them on a consistent basis, like the 2nd Tuesday of
the month or whatever.

It's only a single-day event, but Julio's Liquors out in
Westborough is having a big multi-brewery beer tasting tomorrow
(free, including food). It's a package store with a great beer
selection, especially Belgian ales.
If there are also any more regular ones, I'm definitely interested!

What’s the difference between a lager and an ale? Where does
Pilsner come from? Does beer go with dessert? Find out the answers
to these questions and more….
Tour the world of beer with us as we enjoy four very diverse styles
of beer. Try:
a Pilsner from Pilsner, Czech Republic
a Barleywine from the oldest operating brewery in the United States
a Hefewiezen from Munich
and end the beer tour on the sweeter side with a coffee house
porter.
Each beer is complimented by salty bar staples like pretzels,
fries, BBQ chicken pizza, and cookies. Presentation will be
accompanied by a “tasting sheet”.
Schedule of events:
Registration and mingling from 6-6:30
Tasting program from 6:30-7:15
Enjoy a cash bar and free pool from 7:15-8pm while you mingle!
**You must register on the BYPA website at
www.BostonYPA.com in order to be on the list for this event. RSVPing on this site
will not add you to the guest list of a BYPA event.***

I hope at least a few attended the Extreme Beer Fest, If you didn't
you missed a great event. The waffles and the breakfast beer were
worth the price themselves. And for an unbelievable bargain, check
out the Sam Adams dinner at McCormicks & Smchick's on Mar
13th-no way are you going to get better then that. Don't forget
Harpoon's St Patty's day party starting on the 9th. A couple more
beer fest coming up in April as well-will post as soon as I have
the dates

MAD RIVER STEELHEAD SCOTCH PORTER
Brewed in Blue Lake, California
This multifaceted, dark-brown porter’s pushy, roasted
sharpness gains a soft, pillowy quality as it rolls across the
tongue. Dispensed by a fine spray of fizziness, the balancing peat
malt sweetness puts a touch of smoke and charcoal in all corners of
the mouth. As the liquid warms, the smoothly blended mocha aroma
displays more coffee than chocolate in the aftertase. Clean-tasting
and strong (6.6%/vol.), Steelhead finishes with a lush, spreading
bitterness.

Since I've peaked some interest in having a beer tasting party, I'm
going to check with some of the local brew/beer pubs and see about
setting up a tasting. If people could let me know what they'd like
in a tasting, I'll see what I can do. Hopefully I'll have a better
idea of when/who/how next week

Jim,
Beer makes everything right, if not, the beer after will.
Here are some places where I would sample:
- Watch City Brewery, Waltham, they brew it right there, the winter
ale is quite good. great food.
- Publick House, Brookline, previously known as Anam Cara, they
give you a Paddle with four possible beers to taste from a huge
list. great food. more paddle...
- Harvard Square... I prefer Central Sq.
