Prince and associated artists go toe-to-toe on the dance floor against Michael and the Jackson family during this ultimate dance party! This face-off always promises to be a dance marathon as dj’s mix album cuts, remixes, rare tracks and classics from their extensive music collections to battle it out on the turntables.

    the PRINCE vs MICHAEL party
    Saturday, January 19th
    MADRONE LOUNGE
    500 Divisadero Street @ Fell
    San Francisco, CA 94117
    8pm – 2am / $5 / 21+

Who will win, The Purple One or the King of Pop? Who cares... this is the perfect night out to lounge with your friends, make some new friends, get your drink on, dance your @ss off and celebrate the music of both these pop stars. Also featuring songs from The Time, The Jackson 5, Sheila E., Janet Jackson, Vanity 6 and many more related artists.

"For FIVE years now, Dave Paul (proprietor of local hip-hop label Bomb Records) has hosted and DJ'ed at the brilliant "Prince vs. Michael Jackson" parties. As selections of hits, rarities, and remixes from both artists are presented over the course of the evening, audience members square off in funky battle, holding signs bearing the mug of their favored entertainer to judge which one is the true king of pop. This sure ain't the place for cynics, but Darling Nikkis and Dirty Dianas are all welcome to participate." - SF WEEKLY

I work at the Pavilion and was looking forward to this show all season. Squeeze was amazing!! Cheap Trick, however, I thought left something to be desired. What was up with all that screeching and "wanna be" heavy metal thing they were doing in the beginning?? I was expecting Robin Zander to start smashing his guitar on stage any minute. I have never wore earplugs when I work but last night during Cheap Trick, I was very tempted to go buy a pair.

On a better note, Glenn Tilbrook and Squeeze were awesome and I was so glad they played my favorite song "Hourglass" right in the beginning.

yeah, it was a great show! Cheap Trick didn't sound so good, but I did enjoy some of the songs. The singing was what was lacking, as you said, but the music was good and classic CT.
Squeeze did sound great! I forgot how unique Glenn T's voice was. It sounded good and it seemed they had a good time too. I know the crowd did! I would go see them again.

    Just a Gigolo

I'm just a gigolo, and everywhere I go
People know the part I'm playing
Paid for every dance, selling each romance
    Every night some heart betraying

There will come a day when youth will pass away
Then what will they say about me
When the end comes I know they'll say just a gigolo as
    Life goes on without me

There will come a day when youth will pass away
Then what will they say about me
When the end comes I know they'll say just a gigolo as
Life goes on without me, 'cause...

    I ain't got nobody
    Nobody, nobody cares for me
    Nobody, nobody
    I'm so sad and lonely
Sad and lonely, sad and lonely
Won't some sweet mama come and take a chance with me
    'Cause I ain't so bad

Get along with me babe, been singin' love songs
    All of the time
Even only be, honey only, only be
Bop bozadee bozadee bop ditty bop

I ain't got nobody 'cept love songs in love
Hummala bebhuhla zeebuhla boobuhla hummala bebhuhla zeebuhla bop

    I ain't got nobody
    Nobody, nobody cares for me
    Nobody, nobody
    I'm so sad and lonely
Sad and lonely, sad and lonely
Won't some sweet mama come and take a chance with me
    'Cause I ain't so bad

Get along with me babe, been singin' love songs
    All of the time

    I ain't got nobody, I know...
    Nobody cares for me.

    Just Like Paradise

Rockin' steady in her daddy's car
    She got the stereo
    With the big gyitars
    And that's all right
    (All right)

    I got the itch
    And a restless soul
    She gone with the wind
    Gonna go for broke tonight
    And that's all night

Girl, we've been meant for this
    Since we were born
No problems now (the coast is clear)
It's just the calm before the storm

This must be just like livin' in paradise
And I don't want to go home

Suzy, suzy, Girl, for cryin' gout loud
You got all the right moves
You make me eat my heart out
    Nightly
And that's all right with me!

    No special favors
    Make it out to cash
    We'll spend it later
Got to make this romance last
    That's it, that's it

Some folks say' easy come is easy go'
    (And some folks say)
But one night ain't enough for me
Girl, hang on tight and don't let go

This must be just like livin' in paradise
And I don't want to go home.
