If you are anything like us, you want to try all these great
restaurants you hear people rave about but you never do. This is
your opportunity to try new restaurants and meet new people along
the way.
Please note, we encourage you to be in this for the FOOD and
FRIENDS! If you're looking for a hardcore networking event - you
won't find it here, this is a relaxed group., We will change the neighborhood of the restaurants each month so
we get to enjoy all areas of Boston and Cambridge. Areas include:
April - Back Bay -
Typhoon (Pan-Asian) & Casa Romero (Mexican) May - South End -
Addis Red Sea (Ethiopian) & Masa (American, Southwestern) June - Cambridge -
Cuchi Cuchi (International) & Tamarind Bay (Indian) July - North End -
Eclano (Italian) & Taranta (Italian with Peruvian influences,
Wednesday the 25th) August - Boston Waterfront -
Meritage (seasonal American) October - Somerville -Tu Y Yo (Mexican)& Midwest Grill (Brazilian BBQ)
November - Brookline -
Fugakyu (Japanese/Sushi) & The Publik House (American fare) Each month, we choose diverse restaurants providing different
dining experiences and cuisine. We meet every 2nd and 4th week of
the month. Each month we post events for the restaurants we're
going to and specific dates and times. We will eat on a Wednesday
or Thursday at 7 PM.
Please view the events and
RSVP as "Yes" by the date listed (if you RSVP as "Maybe" we will
NOT include you in our Reservation number).
We encourage anyone to join even if you don't know anyone
attending. Most of us have not met in person so its a great
opportunity to meet people.
We ask three things of everyone who attends: 1. Plan to pay by
cash. We split the food bill evenly and each person pays for their
own drinks. If someone ordered something significantly pricier than
everyone else, we ask that people be honest and pitch in
accordingly. 2. Everyone stay until the check has been settled. 3.
That there is no ordering of community alcohol unless one person
plans on paying for the entire bottle. This way noone feels like
one person drank more then another but the cost was split evenly.
We hope you can join us in good food, good drink, and good company!

L'Espalier: I have August 15th off so will have lunch there, let me know if you would like to join me.
Let me know what day's look good for all of you for the three restaurants listed for dinner? I want to try only two other's as that will be a bit expensive to do any more. ;-) I was thinking August 14 and 21 or 22nd for dinner?
Also, please respond to me by FRIDAY 07/25/08 noon, of this week as I want to make reservations ASAP.
Smiles, Natalia

I think on the pre-updated going, I was receiving email notices whenever someone posted a dinner event.
Hopefully, facebook will help get the word out better.

might be another thing to check out. I"ve been wanting to do that, just haven't yet. Parking isn't so great around there.

I went there a while back and I actually thought it was completely overrated! Everything was fine but not over the top awesome that I thought it would be considering all the great reviews it was getting!

The other thing you can consider is that most upscale restaurants have private rooms for parties of as small as 8 people. That might be good considering your niece since you will have your own space and not bother other diners.

I always think Ruth Chris' or a good steak place works well because it's basic enough for most people's tastes and the food is excellent. Abe & Louie's is good too and a hidden secret is that you can order from Atlantic Fish Co next door too since it's the same owners.
The North End can also be good for personalized service and family friendly atmosphere and there are lots of choices there.

- Neat private room, although its fairly busy anyway, so a kid making noise is no big deal
- Food is really good, without ridiculous pricing
- Fun & funky atmosphere
- kid-friendly options (mac'n'cheese, meatloaf, burger & fries....make sure to look at both restaurant & bar menus)
